Employees actually log in, which surprised me

Managers approve leave from their phones now, which was the whole point. Employment equity reporting built into the data model. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. Nothing has come up in the last year that I would call a real problem. Worth the migration effort, which is not something I say often.

What works

Workplace skills plan and annual training report in SETA format. Onboarding checklists removed most of the first week paperwork. The employee file holds everything in one place with proper permissions.

What does not

Reporting is adequate rather than strong.

Leave accruals were wrong from day one

It was clearly built for a different labour market. For context, the parts we were sold on never worked the way they were demonstrated. The gaps are the kind that create work rather than save it. I would look elsewhere unless price is the only consideration.

What works

The employee database itself is fine.

What does not

Support hours do not overlap with our working day. Leave rules never matched South African requirements. The interface is dated and slow.

Good for leave, thin everywhere else

It has reduced admin, just not as much as the demo suggested. B-BBEE scorecard inputs produced directly. Beyond that it is more ordinary than the marketing suggests. It sits squarely in the middle for us, useful but not something I would champion. It is a reasonable choice, provided you know what it does not do.
